OFF-WHITE AW18

Updated: Aug 11, 2021

Virgil Abloh, the designer of Off-White, is the uncontested master of generating hype. With collaborations left and right, he knows how to catch the attention of streetwear fanatics like no other. However, he is still finding his footing in the world of high fashion.

For this collection, Abloh worked on an equestrian theme with a tapestry print deployed on corsets, jackets, dresses and trousers. A blazer ending in booty shorts or a skin-tight bodysuit emblazoned “modern” will do little to convince his critics but will surely be enjoyed by today's it-girls a la Bella Hadid.

The finale looks – big tulle ball gowns – captured Off-White's scattered personality. If Abloh can successfully pull off streetwear, he still needs to find the right balance on his more formal aspirations.
