Just like Rodarte, after spending two seasons in Paris' Haute Couture Week, Proenza Schouler presented its Spring/Summer 2019 collection in New York City.
Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough, the designers behind Proenza Schouler, have been slightly influenced by Paris and the Couture Calendar. Possibly their approach to fashion has changed and their SS19 show is the reactionary result.
Proenza Schouler's new collection explores an American sensibility through a diverse cast of New York characters here embodied by legends like Gemma Ward and Amber Valletta and top models like Kaia Gerber, Binx and Fran Summers.
And what's more American than denim? Denim and its several possibilities are explored through the whole collection.
Hernandez and McCollough are back to basics, aiming for a more straightforward attitude for a down to earth woman. The oversize bags represent the only exception in this minimal and wearable collection, personally one of the best of the season so far.
