This is a very quick sketch that I did during the Y/PROJECT Spring/Summer 2019 fashion show, as part of Paris Fashion Week.
I can proudly say that I have been following this brand since Glenn Martens has become its creative director in 2013, attending their shows way before their both critical and commercial success, and it is has been just wonderful to witness this well-deserved rise.
For Summer/Spring 2019 Martens keeps playing with playful proportions, showing his personal take on street-fashion and gender. Deconstruction and disproportion are the main foundations of this collection, with key pieces like double shoulder polos, belted V pants and multi-layered dresses.
Y/PROJECT keeps the conversation about gender as relevant as ever, adapting some design ideas from the menswear collection for their womenswear one, including a trench coat in overlays of tulle.
For the first time, Y/PROJECT introduces its new line of bags, including a crystal clutch, and sunglasses, in collaboration with Linda Farrow.
In confirmation of his rising success, Glen Martens has been invited as a guest designer, to show his new Y/PROJECT menswear collection during Pitti Uomo in January 2019.
