DIOR SS20

Updated: Aug 10, 2021

Here's a very quick sketch that I created during the wonderful Dior Spring/Summer 2020 fashion show by creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri that I had the pleasure to attend at Paris Fashion Week.

The show took place at the Paris-Longchamp hippodrome, within an "inclusive garden" designed in collaboration with Coloco, an atelier whose aim is to cultivate gardens to drive urban inclusiveness. The plants and trees part of the show décor, will continue their journey, to reinforce the urban landscape.

For Spring/Summer 2020 Maria Grazia Chiuri draws inspiration from some pictures of Catherine Dior, Monsieur Dior's sister, who also inspired before the House first iconic perfume.

Catherine Dior used to take care of the Dior's family gardens, she was known to be a gardener in a large sense of the term, as she cultivated freedom and independence as well in her daily life.

Chiuri imagines a delicate and determined woman, highlighting the meaning of caring for plants and flowers today, evoking a vision of a luxuriant vegetation, through botanical motifs and embroideries.

This sketch, created during the show, is part of my Paris Fashion Week SS20 live illustrated coverage for L'Officiel Italia.
